FAQ
Is the terminal really free?
Yes. The macOS app is open source and free forever. Local agents run with your own API keys at no cost to you. Cloud VMs are part of the paid plans.
What are Cloud VMs?
Persistent Linux machines in the cloud: pets, not cattle. Following the Zen of cmux, a machine is a primitive, not a managed solution: it keeps its files, installed tools, and state, and what you build on it is yours. Agents clone repositories, run commands, and open pull requests there without touching your Mac. Pro includes up to 50 Cloud VMs, with 24 GB RAM and 6 vCPUs shared across all VMs. Team includes the same limits per user. There is no metering or overage billing.
Do I still need Tailscale for the iOS app?
No. The iOS app pairs with your Mac over the built-in cmux iroh network. You can also bring your own networking, like Tailscale. Enterprise can self-host.
How does billing work?
Pro is $50/mo, or $40/mo when billed annually (a 20% savings). Team is $60/user/mo, or $48/user/mo when billed annually. Paid plans include up to 50 Cloud VMs per user, with 24 GB RAM and 6 vCPUs per user shared across all their VMs. There is no metering or overage billing. The terminal and local agents stay free.
Can I self-host the cloud?
Yes, on Enterprise. Run agent execution on your own infrastructure or fully air-gapped, so source code never leaves your network.
Do you have a team plan?
Yes. Team is $60/user/mo, or $48/user/mo when billed annually, with centralized billing for your whole team and priority support.
